Is Rotomolding the Right Route for Your Part?
Rotational molding is often considered for one-piece hollow plastic products. We review the actual geometry, material, openings, wall requirements and production demand before confirming feasibility and tooling.
Hollow Geometry
Share overall dimensions, capacity, openings, handles, mounting and assembly features.
Material and Use
Describe chemical exposure, temperature, impact, color and outdoor requirements when relevant.
Tooling Plan
We discuss mold design, part release, inserts and any trimming or secondary operations.
Inspection Needs
Critical dimensions, appearance, fit, leak or functional checks are agreed for each project.
If the design is still early, send a sketch or product photo. We can identify what information is needed for the next engineering review.
Request a Rotational Molding Quote
Include the part application, drawing or photo, size or capacity, preferred material, estimated quantity, openings and any required tests. Select “Rotational Molding” in the form below.
No final CAD file yet? A clear photo, sketch or sample description can start the discussion. NDA available on request.
Project Types We Can Review
These are examples of shapes commonly evaluated for rotational molding. Suitability and production details depend on the actual drawing and use conditions.
Tanks and Containers
Hollow products where capacity, openings, handling and sealing requirements matter.
Protective Housings
One-piece covers and enclosures with mounting, access or impact requirements.
Industrial Components
Ducts, reservoirs, bins and other hollow parts requiring a project-specific material and tooling review.
Design Points Before Tooling
Wall and Corners
Review wall requirements, radii, deep features and locations where material distribution may vary.
Openings and Inserts
Confirm access openings, threaded inserts, fittings, drains and assembly interfaces.
Part Release
Discuss draft, parting line, undercuts and how the part will be removed from the mold.
Material Selection
Confirm the resin grade against the application; available options are reviewed for each project.
Trimming and Finish
Define cut lines, holes, surface appearance and any secondary operations.
Testing and Packing
Agree on dimensional, fit, leak or other tests and protection during shipment.
From RFQ to Finished Hollow Part
RFQ Review
We collect drawings, dimensions, application, material, quantity and test requirements.
Feasibility and Tooling
Geometry, mold design, openings, inserts and inspection requirements are discussed.
Tooling and Trial
Trial parts are checked against the agreed design and feedback is documented.
Sample Approval
Changes and acceptance points are confirmed before repeat production.
Production Checks
Appearance, dimensions, functional needs and quantity are reviewed as agreed.
Packing and Delivery
Part protection, labeling and packing are planned around the shipment.
Rotational Molding, Blow Molding or Injection Molding?
The best route depends on part geometry, performance and quantity. We can review your project without assuming one process in advance.
| Process | Often evaluated for | Key RFQ questions |
|---|---|---|
| Rotational molding | Hollow, often larger or one-piece shapes | Size, openings, wall needs, inserts, material and quantity |
| Blow molding | Hollow parts formed by air pressure | Neck or opening, wall distribution, sealing and testing |
| Injection molding | Detailed solid or shell components | Tooling, gates, ribs, tolerances, assembly and volume |
Rotational Molding FAQ
What should I send for a rotomolding quote?
Send CAD or 2D drawings, a sketch or clear product photos. Include dimensions or capacity, intended use, material if known, estimated quantity and any functional or inspection requirements.
Can a project start without a finished drawing?
Yes. A sample, sketch or photos can start an initial discussion. We will identify the missing details required before tooling and quotation are finalized.
Which materials can be used?
Material suitability depends on the application and part design. Tell us the environment, chemical or outdoor exposure, impact needs and color requirement so we can review the appropriate grade.
Can you include inserts or openings?
Openings, fittings and inserts can be reviewed during design planning. Feasibility and the method depend on the actual part and function.
How long does a project take?
Tooling, trial and production timing are set after reviewing the drawing, material, mold complexity and order quantity. Our team replies to a complete RFQ within 12 working hours.
Have a hollow plastic part to review?
Send what you have. We will discuss whether rotational molding, blow molding or another route fits the part.
